An Easton police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for an inspection sticker violation about 11:12 a.m. near Foundry and Turnpike streets, the Enterprise reported.
The vehicle took off and continued south toward Raynham, police said. An Easton police supervisor told the officer to stop the pursuit after the suspect was passing vehicles in the breakdown lane approaching the Raynham town line.
A Raynham officer deployed stop sticks near Raynham Park, at 1958 Broadway, but the vehicle continued driving south.
The officer began pursuing the vehicle until it crashed at Britton Street and Broadway about 11:16 a.m.
Police reported that the driver struck a pedestrian when he crashed. A medical helicopter was requested to the scene.
The Easton Fire Department was requested to provide mutual aid for a “multiple-car” “multiple-patient” crash. Easton police and State Police troopers are also assisting at the scene. At least three ambulances responded.
Broadway is currently closed in that area.
Detectives and the Raynham police accident reconstruction team are responding to investigate.
