SWANSEA — Police are working to determine why a driver sped off from a police officer in Bristol and didn’t stop until the car crashed in Swansea.
The driver was injured and taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries. The driver is also facing charges in two states.
Bristol Police Capt. Brian Burke said the 2002 Subaru fled when an officer attempted to stop it for a stop sign violation, leading to a pursuit from Bay View Avenue to Metacom Avenue, with police stopping when the Subaru entered Warren. Warren police then took over the chase and the driver entered Swansea.
