ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA (CBS46) –
Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett says high-speed chases too often end with a bang, and that is a problem.
“We hope we can reduce chases from happening,” Levett said.
And Levett is convinced a small device from Starchase will help solve a major safety issue.
“I can say with confidence and a smile this has saved lives,” said Trevor Fischbach, president of Starchase, Inc.
Starchase is a GPS system that tracks vehicles every two to three seconds, allowing law enforcement to back off chases. Fischbach says the tracker is fired from a patrol car using a non-lethal compressed air system.
