Local, county police see more drivers flee during traffic stops

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Springfield police officers and Sangamon County deputies say there’s been a dangerous uptick in the number of drivers speeding off when they try to pull them over.

It’s called fleeing and eluding.

Now, law enforcers are creating solutions to seize the cars involved in the cases in other locations rather than at the initial traffic stops.

“The typical ploy now is just to flee from us immediately,” said Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell. Read full story here
