By: westplainsdailyquill.net

After leading police on a chase through three counties, a former West Plains man reportedly died at the end of the pursuit from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Travis Mackey, 35, of St. Charles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department reported Mackey’s vehicle struck a patrol car before running off the road and coming to a stop in the median.

Deputies approaching Mackey’s vehicle reported he had a gun in each hand and pointed them at himself. Officers said he then shot himself.
