Family dog killed, two people injured when Natural Resources Police officer crashes into SUV

Sarah Gregory was driving her SUV with her mother and her aunt’s dog when a Natural Resources Police officer slammed into the driver’s side door of the vehicle.

Gregory said she had a green light on Sunday and didn’t see the NRP truck until it was too late. Gregory and her mother, Sharon Gregory, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The dog — a 10-year-old Golden Doodle — died at the scene.

“He just had his lights on. No siren,” Gregory said. “I’m very lucky to walk away with minor injuries. (The officer) never hesitated. He was flying … speed was a huge factor.”
